Happy birthday to us,

Happy birthday to us,

Happy birthday, dear SageAge…

It’s hard to believe it, but on August 3, we will be celebrating our 36th birthday. And boy, oh boy, the world looks a lot different than it did when we opened our doors in 1983.

Back then The A-Team and Mama’s Family were on our televisions, and “Every Breath You Take” and “Africa” were topping the charts. Acid-washed jeans, big shoulder pads, crimped hair and punk rock chic could be found in just about everyone’s closet.

The senior living space looked a little different in 1983, too. Paul and Terry Klaassen had two years under their belt running the first “assisted living” community in the nation. The idea of seniors living in a space where they enjoyed autonomy and an environment that enhanced everyday life was just beginning to take hold.

And just as McDonalds introduced the McNugget and revolutionized fast-food offerings for all time, our own Faith Ott opened a boutique agency focused on marketing for senior living communities … and helped change the industry for the better.

“Watching the senior living space grow and change over the past 36 years has been exciting, and I’m so glad I’ve been able to play a role in its evolution,” says Faith, Founder, President and Executive Consultant for SageAge Strategies. Having worked in every facet of the senior living space (we mean that literally), Faith has an insider’s knowledge of how things work – and how they can be made even better.

“Everyone at SageAge has a passion for seniors that transcends business,” Faith says. “The industry has been an exclusive focus since we opened our doors because we believe seniors deserve the chance to live their best lives, and we are proud to play our part in making that happen.”

“Faith created an agency where you receive the benefits of forward-thinking business practices, innovative marketing strategies, top-notch creative and, most importantly, a trusted partner.” says Sean Ochester, Executive Vice President of Digital, Integrated Marketing and Technology. “Ever since she founded the business, our mission has always been to transform the future of senior living and senior care, and for 36 years we’ve lived up to that ideal.”

Just as the senior living space has changed over 36 years, best practices in marketing, lead generation and nurturing and occupancy strategies have changed, too. Back in the day, direct mail, radio spots, newspaper and magazine ads and (sometimes) television commercials were the way to attract potential residents to your community. Now, thanks to technology, the landscape is a constantly moving target.

“Although technology has made it easier for senior living communities to reach out to potential residents on their own and connect with them in multiple ways, it’s also made it more complicated in terms of knowing what best practices are,” says Jason McCloud, Executive Director of Integrated Marketing and Communications. “It’s nearly impossible for a senior living provider to be experts at taking care of residents and staying on top of Google’s most recent algorithm changes, for example. That’s why it’s more important than ever to have experts like SageAge Strategies on your side to ensure that your marketing dollars and time is being spent wisely.”

Since senior living marketing is all we do, we do it all. We bring our unique insight of the 50+ market to deliver successful results with Sales & Marketing ConsultingMarket ResearchMedia Planning & PlacementCreative & Branding Services,Digital Strategies and Direct Marketing.

“We believe strongly that we’re not just working with you as a partner – we’re investing in a long-term relationship with you,” says Faith. “We’ve done this for 36 years by being available whenever and wherever you need, delivering and executing projects on or ahead of time and learning your business backwards and forwards to become an extension of your own staff. We never lose sight of the fact you are trusting us with your success, and it’s our honor and privilege to serve you.”
